Nurmijärvi is best known for being the birthplace of Finland's national author, Aleksis Kivi, who was born on October 10th, 1834 in the village of Palojoki. Today, his home is a museum. The birthhome of Aleksis Kivi is situated at the foot of Taaborinvuori hill. Taaborinvuori is a scenic attraction for day trips with its Museum Area, Art exhibitions and cultural events.
